One set of buildings which I always seem to revisit in Manchester, be it in my photography or my motion work is the City Tower. I'll be honest, it's a fairly brutal slab of 1960's concrete, but there's something about the imposing scale of the buildings, which always has an impact.

In 2006 I created an image of City Tower where I tried to dwarf the building, make it so you can look down on it for a change. The whole picture was taken from the ground and then built like a giant 3D composite picture on my computer, combining 100's of images to create a mini version.

Over the last 2 years there's been a big project to renovate and rebuild the Towers, now this process has come to an end I wanted to try renovating and rebuilding my version of the Towers. From a full reshoot of the building as it stands now, I have constructed the updated building, adding all the new features, and even a maintenance man who happened to be on the top whilst I was re-shooting.
